Shopping My Closet

In this age of disposable fashion, it’s really easy to buy inexpensive clothes or accessories and then discard them when they are out of style. While I definitely get caught up in that mentality, I try to be consciences about buying classic closet staples that I can re-style and re-wear year over year. Today, I am going to share some fun tips and tricks on Shopping My Closet and putting together outfits in different ways to keep your existing wardrobe fun and fresh!

CLASSIC ACCESSORIES

I am always willing to splurge a little when it comes to classic pieces, like a designer bag. I purchased this bag last year and I couldn’t be happier with the amount of wear I’ve gotten out of it already. Specifically, I love the classic, neutral color as well as the chic and sophisticated gold metal details. I have found that I am able to wear this during the day and into a casual evening, making is really versatile. I have also found that this bag really goes with everything – from athleisure while I’m running errands to more chic looks for date night! The ability to manipulate the chain to be a crossbody or shoulder bag is also a great characteristic of a classic piece! This bag is actually affordable for a designer bag, but you can splurge and go for something really high-end, or find something similar under $50!

NEUTRAL PIECES

Bright colors, jewel tones, metallics, neon – these are all fun trends, but neutrals will ALWAYS be classic. Blacks, whites, creams, tans, browns and greys are pieces that should be in every closet and can allow you to build different looks, while starting from a neutral base. This black and tan duster cardigan is something I’ve had in my closet for years. It’s easy to style for Fall, Winter and early Spring. I find that it’s chic and doesn’t go out of style because the colors are classic!

DENIM

Denim fits are ever changing – flares, boot cut, straight leg, boyfriend, etc. In the end, you should wear whatever style you like and what looks good with your silhouette and body type! No matter what, the rest of your outfit will shine if you wear a great paid of jeans!
