Hey Everyone! I wanted to share my latest DIY project. I am still trying to furnish and decorate our house, one DIY project at a time. I have done a few paintings, including this Herringbone painting (see the tutorial here), these Chevron paintings (see the tutorial here) and this Abstract piece (see tutorial here), so I wanted to try another!
I used some leftover foam paint brushes and a 12×24 canvas. I also bought these Martha Stewart paints from JoAnn’s (affiliate link here). I used “Deep Sea” and “Gold” for this project, but you can mix and match any colors that go with your home decor.
As you can see, I started out with a different blue. It was a blue from my paint set, but it turned out to be a little too light for what I wanted. I really wanted a rich, deep blue that would look classy with the metallic gold. Luckily, I was able to paint right over the original color without an issue. I will say that I had to paint about 3 coats of the blue and 3 coats of the gold in order to get the deep, rich colors that I wanted. Overall, I think it took me about 2 or 3 days of painting and drying to get the look that I wanted.
I used the foam brush to paint on uneven strokes of the gold. There is really no way to mess this up. I decided to paint the canvas in half, but again, this was personal preference. This was the end result. I think it really came out great!
