July 4th Jell-o Shot Recipe

Happy 4th of July! This year, we decided that we didn’t want to do too much travelling during the holiday, so instead, we stayed close to home. Our neighbors invited us to a pool party BBQ at their house. I decided to try out a new July 4th Jell-o shot recipe for the occassion! These were a huge hit and they taste amazing!

Ingredients

Red Layer

1 Package of Cherry Jell-o | 1 cup of water | 1 cup of vodka

Blue Layer

1 Package of Blueberry Jell-o | 1 cup of water | 1 cup of vodka

White Layer

1 Package of Knox Gelatin | 1 cup of milk | 3 tsp sugar | 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract | 1/2 cup of vodka

Recipe

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add blue jell-o powder. Stir in powder until full dissolved and continue to boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of vodka. Pour blue mix into small shot glasses and refrigerate for roughly 30 minutes, or until jell-o is hardened.

In a medium bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 1/4 cup of milk. Bring 3/4 cups of milk to a simmer. Once simmering, shut off heat and add sugar, vanilla and vodka. Stir until full dissolved. Pour the heated mixture over the gelatin and stir until completely dissolved. Let cool for 10 minutes before pouring mixture over the blue layer. Once the mix is poured into the shot glasses over the blue layer, refrigerated for roughly 30 minutes, or until jell-o is hardened.

Finally, bring 1 cup of water to a boil and add red jell-o powder. Stir in powder until full dissolved and continue to boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of vodka. Let cool for 10 minutes. Pour red mix into small shot glasses and refrigerate for roughly 30 minutes, or until jell-o is hardened.

Hint, spray the shot glasses with a little bit of Pam and then wipe them down with a paper towel to remove the excess so that the jell-o slides out easily!

This recipe makes about 24 (1 oz.) jell-o shots that will be a hit at your next BBQ!
