Hey Everyone!! I know I have been missing in action lately, but I was away on a trip for work. I have been working on this night table for a while and I finally finished it when I came home. Take a look at how I transformed this old, dark night table into a new, fresh furniture piece!
Oh, and also check out my trip photos…
So, I’m sure you are dying to see my work trip photos!! I went to Greece for work and then stopped in London on the way home. Sorry for the terrible selfies…I was sightseeing by myself!
Ok ok..back to the point of this post! Eric brought this night stand over from his old apartment. It is actually from Pottery Barn and was in great shape (despite being a little dusty). Since our whole house is taking on a more neutral vibe, I wanted to rehab this table to fit in a little better.
I sanded down all of the surfaces and then wiped the table clean. Bye bye dark wood!!
I also removed the drawer (which was harder than it looked), before I started painting.
I must have been delirious, because I don’t have any pictures of the 12 coats it took to cover this baby…which is good for you, because it was back-breaking! After the 12 coats, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at stenciling. I bought a stencil pack from JoAnn’s and picked out the one that I liked best for this project.
It’s important not to put too much paint on your brush or roller when you stencil. I may have been a bit overzealous and I put on a little too much paint. The paint ended up bleeding a little, causing the lines on the pattern not to be as crisp as I would have liked.
I also wanted to add a cute little crystal knob. I bought this knob from Home Depot for about $2. I (meaning Eric) drilled a hole in the middle of the drawer and added the knob.
I put this night table in one of the guest rooms that we are re-decorating. I think it looks pretty good! That’s all folks! Here’s a little sneak peak at the guest room rehab. Check out my DIY Throw Pillow tutorial if you like those fun, bright pillows on the bed.
I hope you enjoyed this post!! Come again soon!
