Entertainment Center with California Closets

Each year, Eric and I try to take on a new home renovation project. We’ve done a lot of them over the years and we have checked so many off of our list! From our Master Closet remodel to our Pantry renovation, we seem to keep going back to California Closets – Suffolk County to help us re-imagine our space! Our Family Room is one of the most used spaces in our home. It is connected to our Kitchen and is open to the backyard. Since we renovated our home, we hadn’t really done much with the space. We had a small media cabinet that we hung our TV over and kept some old furniture in the room because we weren’t sure how we were going to design the space. Before buying a new couch, we knew we needed to come up with a solution for the huge wall that housed our TV and components. To fill the 20 foot wall, we liked the idea of a built-in, but just didn’t really know where to start when it came to designing one. I had a few pictures of built-ins that I liked and I approached California Closets to see if it was a build they had ever done before. While they had done many entertainment centers and built-ins, they had only done one or two with doors – but they were up for the challenge. This began our journey to design the perfect Entertainment Center with California Closets!

We really wanted a built-in that had the ability to hide our TV when we had company over. Because we already have a piece of art hanging over our mantle which is on an adjacent wall to where the TV is, we didn’t really like the idea of a picture frame TV. Instead, I really wanted barn doors that would cover the TV and reveal beautiful built-ins when closed. Ariane, Anthony and the team over at California Closets did not disappoint when it came to designing this space. Not only did they find a way to make a 20 foot wall look warm, inviting and cozy, but they custom built the barn doors and even found a local hardware manufacturer to provide the tracks and sliders for the doors. We went a little over the top by adding some fun lights in each shelf and also building in the vents for our HVAC in the baseboard molding. Even more impressive was the amount of storage space we managed to create within the 4 huge cabinets. Now, all of our electronic components and wires are completely hidden and we have a space to store all of our board games (haha)!

I know that the shelf styling is probably still a work in progress, but I love that we have some space to display family photos, books and just pretty home decor! Again, all of these details really make the space feel more cozy. What was originally a daunting task – how do I make a 20 foot wall look interesting – was made easy by the designers and installers at California Closets. At this point, Eric and I consider them family and have all of their numbers on speed dial.

I love being able to display some fun photos from our honeymoon and especially our cute little niece Shea!

Being able to hide the TV and all of the electronic wires and components was my top priority and California Closets totally delivered!

The install took about a day and when they were done, the entire room was totally transformed!

At night, the built-in lights really make the shelves pop even more!

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this look into our new Entertainment Center!
