Hey Everyone! After over a year of eating off of our coffee table/ottoman and hosting family holidays on a folding table and folding chairs, we finally decided it was time to decorate our breakfast nook!! It’s ok to jump up and down in excitement, I know I am!
I apologive in advance for the cellphone pictures in this post. We re-did this room before I decided I was going to become a master blogger (haha, just kidding). I will try to be better about taking nice BEFORE photos without all of the smudges and blurriness!
When Eric and I first moved into the new house, we spent most of our time spackling holes, sanding down ceilings, painting EVERYTHING and living with our bed on the floor and a folding table in the kitchen (this is literally all we had in the house when we came back from our honeymoon).
Once we finished painting and moved the rest of our furniture into the house, we just started living with folding table. It was the wrong shape for the breakfast nook space and it was an ugly beige color, but we made no moves to buy a kitchen table.
After almost a year, my mom wanted her folding table back and I desperately wanted to make our house more homey. I started searching for tables without really having an idea of what I wanted. After a few days of searching, I decided that I wanted white leather chairs. This was a hard decision to make because when you live with a boy, nothing that is white stays clean for long. I decided that I was going for it anyway.
I also decided that a round table would make much more sense than a square or rectangular table after living with the folding table for a year. Eric and I took a piece of rope and some painters tape and mapped out the table diameter that we thought would work best. There are sliding doors in our breakfast nook that open up onto our back patio, so we had to make sure that there was still access. I found this awesome table on sale at West Elm and I instantly fell in love with the wood grain.
The last piece of the puzzle that I had to figure out what the lighting. We took down all of the old light fixtures when we sanded and painted all of the ceilings. This was a little silly on our part, because we never put them back up. That means that at night, we only had a few table lamps to light most of our house…oops. I found this pendant light that was modern but still went with the homey feel of the wood table.
Once everything arrived, Eric and I spent a Friday night assembling the chairs, table and hanging the new light fixture.
Thanks for checking out my Breakfast Nook Revamp! I am in the process of making some lumbar pillows for the kitchen chairs, so check back for an update on those! Also check back for more revamps and makeover like the Laundry Room Revamp, the Master Bathroom Remodel and the Dining Room Revamp.
