Fall is upon on whether we are ready for it or not! I am seeing pumpkins and mums lining the front porches of all of my neighbors, so I thought it would be fitting to share some of my favorite Fall trends this year! This post is to dive into The Fall Edit, including trends like sweater vests, neutrals, combat boots, shirt dresses, plaid and flare jeans!

SWEATER VESTS

I think that sweater vests might be the most controversial Fall trend this year. When I think sweater vests, I’m not sure that I think high fashion, or fashion period! Despite any preconceived notions, I actually think that this is a really fun trend! I actually shared a sweater vest during the Summer and you guys loved it! I’ve also seen the sweater vests paired with white button down underneath for a more Fall appropriate option!

NEUTRALS

It should be no surprise that Neutrals are on the Fall trend list. Neutrals are always on trend, and now more than ever, you’ll want to snag some beautiful and rich camels, browns and off-whites for Fall!

COMBAT BOOTS

Combat boots and just chunky boots in general have been on trend for about a year. If you haven’t jumped on the trend yet, I urge you to, because they are in for Fall ad make a bold statement with denim and skirts alike!

SHIRT DRESSES

Shirt dresses are a fun way to style an effortless and casual look into something more interesting and bold! Style with combat boots, over the knee boots or something more chic like stilettos for a fun play on a simple look!

PLAID

Plaid is such a quintessential Fall trend. Though it does go in and out of style, I would say that it’s always a safe bet to have some classic plaids in your wardrobe!

FLARES

Finally, I can even believe I am saying it, but flares are IN! I remember wearing flares and even the “exaggerated flares” (ie. bell bottoms) all throughout middle and high school. I have since donated almost all of flared denim, but I did keep a few favorites that I just couldn’t part with. Now I am glad that I did, because this fun trend is here to stay for a while! Everything from distressed denim, to white denim and black/gray denim is f(l)air game!

I hope you all are having a great Summer! It’s been so great starting to get out and about again and Eric and I are trying to take advantage! Getting out this Summer means that I can feel good about buying and creating fun outfits again! Today, I am Creating Similar Looks with Shopbop to some of my favorite Summer outfits!

This first look is one that I wore to dinner earlier in the Summer. This top is totally versatile for work or play and is really flattering! I wore it with mid-rise light wash jeans and these really fun strappy white sandals. To go with those sandals, I matched the color in both my bag and my belt to really keep the look neutral and cohesive! Again, this is a perfect look for date night!

I wore this look to brunch on a really hot Summer weekend. I love the streamlined, ribbed bodysuit that tucks perfectly into these paperbag linen shorts. Not only are these shorts light and airy, but they also can be dressed up, which makes they really versatile! Finally, I am absolutely loving these throwback espadrilles! I feel like these are just a chic and sophisticated closet staple that can go with shorts like this or even with a casual sundress for an outdoor wedding!

If you read my New Year, New Me post from the beginning of January, then you know that I have made resolutions not only to appreciate the people around me more, but also to live a healthy lifestyle! I always find January really motivating because November through December is usually such an indulgent time, complete with food and drinks galore! I try not to give myself too much of a hard time during the holidays because I know that I will be motivated to make healthy lifestyle choices in January. Those choices include doing a month of no alcohol (Dry January) and really diving into my fitness routine. What better way to get motivated than to buy some Activewear That Will Get You on Your Feet!?

As you probably already know, we jumped on the Peloton train a while back…over 4 years ago when it was a relatively unknown company. Eric and I try to ride everyday or every other day to make the most of that piece of equipment. We also recently set up a makeshift gym in our basement. My parents are in the middle of a move, so most of their remaining things are in our basement, including my dad’s weights and bench press. Eric and I have started going down there together, listening to music and doing circuit training.

 A big part of working out hinges on having the right workout gear! High impact workouts like lunges and squats are enhanced by compression leggings and fabrics that absorb sweat! There are a lot of brands of fitness and activewear that I love, but I am rounding up some of my favorites that I have been wearing consistently throughout January!

Don’t forget that in addition to hitting the gym, there are so many other ways to attain your fitness goals. I am not a skier, but skiing and snowboarding are great ways to stay active during the winter months. If watching the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has taught me anything, it’s that fashion does not stop at the top of a double black diamond! Check out the latest in base layers that will keep you warm and still looking really cute when you are grabbing hot cocoa in the lodge!

I love an outfit that does what I need! From high intensity fabric to convenient pockets, ventilation slats and comfy sneakers, its super important to have an outfit that fits your workout!

LOUNGEWEAR AS ACTIVEWEAR

If you’ve read my blog a lot, then you are probably sick of me saying the word versatile. But seriously…versatility is my favorite feature for any type of look! I like to be able to mix and match, wear pieces different ways and for different reasons. I love that this yoga look has both a activewear component in the leggings, but also a more relaxed, loungewear component in the comfy oversized tee!

We have officially turned off the AC and are finally taking on Fall to its full extent! With that being said, I wanted to share my Fall Trend Alert details with you! There are so many great Fall trends that are out there this year! From plaid blazers to cozy knits and everything in-between, I am going to round up some great picks. I would also suggest shopping your own closet as much as you can! There are always great ways to re-invent the wardrobe you already own. Maybe you already have an amazing plaid blazer, but you just need to buy a paid of cropped denim or vice versa!

WHITE BLAZER

White blazers are such a hot item right now. Despite the age-old mantra of not wearing white after Labor Day, pairing a white blazer with some dark denim is a great way to accessorize for Fall! I’ve worn this blazer both to work and to go out to dinner, making it super versatile and chic! I also love the gold button detail!

GRAY DENIM

Gray denim was extremely on-trend last year and I think it is here to stay! Whether it is a dark wash gray denim or a lighter wash, you really can’t go wrong! I love the contrast of the darker gray denim against white accents, really making for a sophisticated Fall look!

ANIMAL PRINT

Animal print is such a fun way to accessorize and otherwise simple outfit. It’s adds interest and drama to include a print to a simple look without being too over the top!

FAUX LEATHER

I truly believe that a wardrobe is not complete without at least a few faux leather jackets. These are the perfect accessory to almost any outfit and can transition through the seasons effortlessly. Because these jackets can sometimes be pricey, I would suggest starting with some classic colors like white, black and gray. From there, you can get more creative with prints and bolder colors!

PEASANT TOP

I am loving the peasant top reboot. I remember this trend from high school and I never really got into it then because I found the tops to be large and shapeless. Now, I can totally see the benefit in the peasant top trend. Not only do they typically have an interesting neckline or detailing, but they look absolutely gorgeous when paired with high waisted jeans! You don’t want to miss out on this trend for Fall!

OVERSIZED KNITS

There is nothing that screams Fall more than sweaters and knits. There is just something about that crisp weather that makes you want to curl up on your couch, but if you want to go out, a sweater will be your go-to! There are so many gorgeous sweater trends for the Fall, including oversized knits and embellished sleeve sweaters! Whichever trend you prefer, you won’t regret stocking up!

HIGH WAISTED JEANS

Aside from cozy loungewear, denim is the most worn item in my closet! As time goes by, I am always willing to try out a new trend. I never thought I would be a “mom jean” type person, but I actually think that high waisted jeans are super flattering, especially when couples with a cropped hem!

PLAID BLAZER

OK, so I definitely saved the best for last! I now have multiple plaid blazers and I seriously can’t get enough! These blazers are so flattering, versatile (work and play), add a fun print to an otherwise simple look and be styled so many different ways! I also feel like plaid is the print that most embodies the Fall vibes!

Today, I am sharing some tips on how to style a white blazer! I am a big believer in the mantra of less is more, which is why I styled this look with a white blazer over a white bodysuit. To me, the white on white and the tucked top gives this look a totally chic and sophisticated vibe. I snagged these grey jeans from Nordstrom Rack for under $70 and I am loving the high waist, the frayed hem and the color, all of which are totally on trend this year! I accessorized with this cute little snake print cross body, which I picked up from the new Scoop Collection at Walmart. If you haven’t checked out the collection yet, you totally should! Everything is $60 or under and super cute and on trend for Fall!

I kept the rest of my accessories pretty simple, with a black belt, pearl designer necklace and these suede booties that I snagged during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
